Restoration

What sort of floors can be restored?

The type of wooden floors that can be restored depends on the depth, thickness and quality of wood used in the first instance.

What we do to restore your wood flooring/ What is the procedure?

We at Angelo Flooring use the proven method of floor restoration that will leave your floor neat, tidy and near enough to its original installation state as possible with a smooth professional finish. We commence by sanding down the existing floor using different grades of abrasive sandpapers/belts decreasing in coarseness with each sanding. Once we have achieved a perfectly fine finish we would then thoroughly clean the floor before applying oil and then polish (as required), followed by 2 to 3 coats (depending on the customers preference or manufacturers recommendation i.e. oil, wax or seal). This will be buffed after each application to ensure smoothness of the surface.

Floor Filling:
All wood flooring can be filled depending on the age and the condition of the floor in the first instance. The traditional method of mass filling a floor is done by taking clean dust from the floor and then mixing it with an oil based resin. Once the resin is added to the required density, we use a flat trowel to fill all gaps. This method can be used on parquet, herringbone, strip, and original floor boards although with floor boards the gaps must not be bigger than 2 to 3 mm as the filler can otherwise fall through after a certain amount of time.

Why would you recommend Restoration?

This would be based on cost, state of current flooring and the best options of the client needs.

Superficial blemishes can be eliminated by taking fine steel wool and a floor cleaner and lightly rubbing in the direction of the grain. Tougher stains that are not too deep should be treated with other methods.
